Wild Friends Storytime

Join the Friends for the Wild Friend Storytime at the Visitors Center. This month we will be reading the book Cactus Hotel by Brenda Z. Guiberson.

Cactus Hotel by Brenda Z. Guiberson is a children's picture book that tells the life story of a saguaro cactus, from a seed to a towering "hotel" for desert animals, and finally to its decomposition, illustrating the complete life cycle and the interdependence of desert life. Illustrated by Megan Lloyd, the book follows the cactus as it grows over 150 years, providing shelter and food for various creatures like woodpeckers, owls, and bats, and then becomes a home for ground dwellers after it falls, with new cacti growing in its place. It's an educational book for young readers (ages 5-8) that teaches about the Sonoran Desert ecosystem.
