Please join us for a morning of trail maintenance on the Fiddlewood Trail Loop from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Activities will include trimming vegetation with hand tools such as clippers and loppers, as well as applying caliche to existing trail sections, spreading, and compaction. The Fiddlewood Trail Loop is located at the Visitor Center parking lot located at 22688 Buena Vista Blvd, Los Fresnos, TX 78566. Please arrive promptly at 9:00 AM to complete the necessary paperwork and attend the safety briefing.
Join Ingrid Keys at the Laguna Atascosa Visitor Center for a Wild Friends Storytime! This month we will be reading the book: Butterflies are Patient and doing a craft.
This course is designed for novice or young hunters, ages 9 years and above. The course covers the core competencies of firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics, and wildlife conservation. All materials are provided. The Hunter Education Classroom Course lasts a maximum of 6 hours of classroom instruction. Th time does not include registration, breaks, test administration, and certification card distribution. Courses are offered across the state year round and are taught by certified volunteer instructors. Pre-registration is required. Check with the instructor for directions and any special instructions prior to going to class. Upon successful completion, you may receive a temporary card from the instructor. You may legally hunt with a valid Texas hunting license and your temporary certification card. Your permanent Texas Hunter Education certificate card will be available for downloading and printing from our account profile. Additionally, there will be a drawing for a chance to win a hunt at the Refuge for exotic nilgai (you must be between the ages of 13 and 17 to qualify for this drawing).
